    Position Summary

    Maintains and enhances the organization’s safety management system by planning, implementing, and evaluating plant policies, programs, and practices towards ISO 45001.

    Keep site in compliance with applicable Local, State, Federal and Company requirements.

    Fulfill reporting requirements SWPPP, EMS, TRI, MAERS, Environmental data, etc.

    Conduct internal audits for Health, Safety and Environmental issues and manage a continuous improvement plan to see all issues are addressed, corrected, maintained.

    Job Duties And Responsibilities:

    • Complete compliance reviews, general risk assessments, and other safety assessments.
    • Maintain relevant HSE logs and documentation.
    • Provide assistance and advice on HSE issues to make recommendations to facility management.
    • Participate in detailed incident investigations and root cause analysis.
    • Promote proactive incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.
    • Ensure that all facility personnel are trained in their specific safety responsibilities to maintain a positive and functioning HSE management system.
    • Develop and present all relevant HSE training applicable to applicant’s competence and hold relevant certifications (where required).
    • Observe HSE regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel.
    • Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
    • Walk the manufacturing floor on a regular basis to establish HSE presence and provide support.
    • Write, implement, and manage HSE Programs, Policies and Procedures
    • Perform facility HSE Inspections.
    • Have knowledge and enforce compliance of Regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA, etc.), including company HSE policies and procedures.
    • Ability to oversee Hazardous Waste Storage area and ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc.
    • Manage emergency response and coordinate first aid training.
    • Oversee Behavior Based / Observation Safety Programs.
    • Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and ensure best practices based on results.
    • Ensure that an environmental management system is maintained in accordance with state and local requirements.
    • Be trained in and ensure timely completion of government reporting requirements.
    • Report monthly data and progress to Corporate Health and Safety Director.
    • Responsible for initial safety orientation of new employees and plant safety programs & inspections.
    • Responsible for updating safety training matrixes and maintaining formal EHS training plan.
    • Responsible for maintaining incident log.
    • Reporting injury reports, monthly to corporate and leasing company.
    • Get / Hold Storm Water Management Operator Certificate.
    • Maintaining Government (MIOSHA and OSHA) logs.
    • Comply with all Environmental / Safety Policies

    Preferred Certificates, Licenses and /or Registrations:

    • Certification or equivalent experience in the health and safety field
    • Storm Water Management Certification
    • ISO 14001 Internal auditor, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor
    • Environmental / Waste Management Training
    • OSHA 10 hour, 30 hr
    • Blood borne Pathogens
    • Community Emergency Response Safety
    • Confined Space –Entrant -Rescue- Supervisor
    • Fire Protection
    • Fall Protection
    • Hazard Materials- DOT Hazmat certification

    Knowledge And Education:

    • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
