Prototyping and Testing

Prototyping

WMG runs its own standalone prototype facility to ensure that our engineers and our customers have reliable prototypes for initial design validation.

From 3D printing, foam prototyping, CNC machining, injection molding, tube forming to welding we do it all in house. Our customers can get affordable, high quality prototype products within days and many times within hours. Accompanied with an in house CMM and 3D scanning, each product we prototype in house is quality-checked before it leaves our doors. Having access to such a facility, our engineers can rapidly accelerate our design validation to save you time and money.

Virtual Testing

Our engineering department is equipped with advanced virtual testing capabilities that enable efficient and comprehensive evaluation of designs and systems. Through the use of state-of-the-art simulation software and virtual prototypes, we can conduct a wide range of tests, including strength analysis and dynamic simulations. This allows us to identify potential issues early in the development process, reduce physical testing requirements, and optimize performance before production. Our virtual testing capabilities also support real-time collaboration, enhancing communication between teams and ensuring faster iteration cycles. This approach not only accelerates the product development timeline but also helps in delivering high-quality, reliable solutions.

In addition to our internal capabilities, we have access to local and global virtual analysis firms that can assist us in running multiple analysis at one time enabling us to rapidly process validation during tight deadlines.

In-House Testing

Our in-house engineering testing lab is strategically located within the same facility as our product engineering teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and rapid feedback during the development and testing phases. This close proximity allows for efficient communication and quick iteration on design changes, ultimately speeding up the product development process.

The lab is equipped with a wide range of advanced testing capabilities to support both standard and customer-specific requirements. We can perform a variety of rigorous tests, including but not limited to:

  • 202A and 201 Tests (ensuring compliance with industry-specific standards)
  • ECE 17 Testing (for automotive safety and performance)
  • Customer-Specific Tests (tailored to unique project specifications)

Key Equipment and Capabilities in Our Testing Lab:

  • Universal Testing Machines For tensile, compression, and shear tests on materials. Also to perform many product validation tests such as ultimate strength, backset retention, height retention, chuck and looseness among many other tests.
  • Dynamic-Impact Testing Machine To simulate and test energy absorption.
  • Environmental Chamber For testing components and products under extreme temperature and humidity conditions.
  • Automated Life Cycle Testing Machine To simulate long-term product usage and assess performance over time.
  • Automated Fatigue Machine For conducting fatigue testing on components and products subjected to repetitive loading cycles.
  • 3D Scanner For precise scanning and dimensional analysis of parts.
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) To verify and measure the geometry of parts with high precision.
  • Torque Development Machine For testing rotational forces and torque applications mainly screws and plastics.
  • Material Testing Machine For evaluating strength of materials.
  • Measuring Instruments Including automated measuring machines, shadowgraphs, calipers, micrometers, and laser measurement tools for accurate part analysis.
  • Foam Testing Machine For evaluating the compression, resilience, and durability of foam materials.

With these cutting-edge tools and systems, our lab ensures that all products undergo rigorous testing to meet or exceed industry standards while maintaining the highest level of quality and performance.
